How to Decide What Baby Clothes to Purchase

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Are you getting ready to welcome a newborn baby into your life? Do you have all of the things that you need for the baby? Baby clothes are so cute these days. They can be as expensive as adult clothing, so you need to shop wisely. Newborn baby clothes are what your baby will come home in, but your baby will grow fast, so you should not buy a whole closet full of newborn clothing. You will also likely get plenty of clothing if you are having a baby shower.
When you shop for your baby clothes keep in mind that your baby will grow fast, so buy plenty of the basics first like onsies, t-shirts, and pajamas; this is what your baby will spend most of his or her time in. Outfits will be worn less often, unless you will be taking your baby out to places often, then you should buy a few good outfits for your baby clothing wardrobe.
At about three months they will be into a new size of baby clothes if not before that. Newborn baby clothes will not last any longer than three months unless you have a very tiny baby that grows slowly. You can assume that your baby will outgrow baby clothes about every two to three months. If you take this into consideration when buying newborn baby clothes you will do alright.
Buy a few nice outfits for each stage of your baby’s growth for the first six months of life. Baby clothes are almost impossible to not fall in love with. They just remind you of the baby that is coming or you think about how cute your baby will look in them. Just do not spend too much on the baby clothing outfits. You will need all of these t-shirts and onsies, and pajamas.
If you are having a winter baby, then you will want a bunting and a warm stocking hat for the baby. Onesies and t-shirts can be worn under baby clothes to help keep your baby warm also. You need to keep your baby’s head, ears and face covered when you go outside in the cold.
As well as baby clothes you will need baby receiving blankets, and plenty of them as the baby will go through them almost as often as diapers some days. You will need several crib sheets and baby blankets as well. Baby’s can be very messy and baby clothes will often need to be changed when diapers are, if the diapers leak. Babies also tend to spit up a lot and this can stain their clothing.
You will get a feel for how many of each piece of newborn baby clothes that your baby will need after a few months. It is fun to be a mom, and dressing up your baby in beautiful clothing is a part of the fun. Buy what you need, and splurge a little on special baby clothes for holidays if you like, just remember how fast your baby will grow.

Spruce up your windows to transform your room

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Windows are no longer mere peepholes through which outside world can be peered at. They are those recesses in the walls which need to decorated and beautified to add elegance to the room. And if you have any plans to go for it, believe me, you’ll be like a child in a candy forest – spoilt for a choice as to what to take and what to leave.

The woven wood and bamboo blinds will surely add that rustic touch of nature in the chrome and glass jungle we live in and a whispered word of appreciation will most definitely slip through the lips of your guests.

But if you want to usher in the grandeur and pomp of the Roman era, go for those silken roman shades which sway imperially from the ceiling all the while flirting with floor below. The sweep and swish of these grand pieces of fabric can weave magic and leave you with a sense of awe and admiration. Choose the color of your choice and be a gladiator in the urban amphitheatre of daily grind.

In case you want the room to be bathed in the soft glow of light permeating through a translucent screen, put on a single cell honeycomb shade on the glass panel of your main door or on the massive sliding glass windows which overlook the side street. If the light seems too bright, go for a double cell shades for just that feeling of mystery without sacrificing the ‘openness’ of the room.

Some might find all this mystification tiresome and yearn for that glass and chrome slickness which is all too associated with our work-a-day world. They need that shine, polish and clipped accuracy for keeping them ready and running all the time.

For them the aluminum venetian blinds would be the perfect choice. If they go for the motorized option with a remote control thrown in, it can well become a bold statement of an individual high on technology and always raring to go. This impression will undeniably be conveyed to anybody who steps inside.

But for those who crave for a bit of the countryside without ever getting an opportunity to reside there, plantation shutters would be the perfect route to that longed for shelter. These are around for centuries having a tradition of their own and are as useful as they were through hundreds of years.

The flexibility and ease with which you can control the flow of light and air and the fact that they are virtually maintenance free also strengthen their case. The additional benefit of increased security tends to seem rather superfluous when already there are so many pluses in its favor.

An ultra modern office with all the latest trappings or a drawing room with latest gadgets can sport an Ante Bellum basswood plantation shutter as an unmatched style statement. This juxtaposition of the modern with the traditional will create a harmony which can never be overlooked.
